Title: Electric Hot water heater
Post by: Dan Stansel on April 24, 2014, 12:24:15 pm
OK another dumb question.  Learned from an earlier post about the location of the Hot Water electric Switch.  Never used.  :o So the question is: I assume that you do not need to turn on the water heater using the switch under the cabinet which turns on the gas and the light turns green after it lights.  How do you know it is on or off?  DAN

Dan, mine is under the bed switch to the right with a red indicator light.

IDK if yours has it. If you look in the electrical panel box it should show "water heater" on the non-inverter side. Hope this helps. ^.^d

You may be talking about the kitchen sink water heater. It's located just a few inches from the kitchen faucet and if plugged in, gives instant hot water without waiting for water to arrive from the regular water heater. The switch is just to the left of the water pump switch and exterior water heater switch with it's red and green lights on our U300.

If you have a 6 or 10 gallon water heater that is three way, the electric switch for the element may be in different locations depending on model.

Tks for the replys.  I am thinking of the main hot water heater.  Yes, there is a hot water switch under the front of the bed.  So, from what I gather if I just turn on the electric switch only //  I should get hot water via electicity saving my propane.  DAN

Yup! The electric element may not heat as fast as propane, but it will heat. I find that I have hot water thanks to motor aid on arrival at a campground. If I have hookups, I turn on the water heater at the foot of the bed and I'll have plenty of hot water throughout the stay. If hookups are not available and I need hot water, I've turn on the propane water heat with the switch in the kitchen.

Keep in mind that the switch for engine block coolant heater is also under the front of the bed.
