After several years of discussion, measuring, looking at other coaches, fortuitous happenstance found us admiring the recently remodeled dinette benches of Phyllis and Brad Metzger's Phenix. Searching the FOT bonepile, we came across a set that were similar, and we had David Flanagan and the upholstery department work their magic, turning cast off curved benches for 2 adults (or 4 children) into custom benches for 4 adults.
We had them covered in bridle Brisa ultraleather to match our front D/P seats. They even matched the banding detail from the seatbacks on the lower drawers of the dinette benches (Steve's idea). The curved benches and seatback design really open up the kitchen space, yet are basically the same overall dimensions that our original benches were. The storage drawers are each about 50% larger in storage footprint and have slightly more vertical space.
Thank you, Phyllis, for the inspiration :D
(The photos at this time of day don't do them justice, but here they are)
Wow those look great, congratulations.
Love the bone yard recovery ;D
Great looking. Well done.

Those look really nice!
May I ask, what is the FOT bone yard? Is it old parts that have been salvaged or is it new unused stuff?
It's the collection of furniture David F. has removed during remodels that's still usable. Dinette benches, sofas, an occasional cabinet (not many), driver/passenger seats. The cost of our benches was rolled into the single line item of upholstery and our old benches are probably in the bone pile themselves now.
Good to know. We're working on a remodel list for when we finally are able to head down south. I did keep the two doors that were under the old refrigerator. Current thinking is that one of them could be used for the cupboard in the bedroom where the old television was. The other one could be contributed to the bone yard if I don't come up with a use for it before then.
They DO look comfortable! Nice.
