Title: Dash Air Intake
Post by: J. D. Stevens on May 05, 2014, 06:46:02 pm
Where is the fresh air intake for the dash HVAC on a 1997 U295?

I received suggestions for travel in dusty conditions. They included putting a filter on the dash air intake and running the dash HVAC fan with intake in the "Fresh Air" position in order to discourage dust entering the coach through all the small pathways around windows.

JD, Probably different on yours but my GV has a fresh air inlet right in front of the passenger under the main electrical panel at floor level. About 4 X 10 metal, looks like a common house register, it leads directly into the plenum for the dash HVAC.  This is makeup air for the dash AC, in addition there is a flapper on the bottom of the plenum that opens to allow OUTSIDE fresh air in.  Again on the GV you open the front hatch to access it under the plenum. It is operated by vacuum thru the dash controls.

Dash air intake: Lay on ground, look up just behind drive side headlights, on the top of this space is the air intake, which is the bottom of the floor in the front street side corner of the coach.

Hard to reach up, but we put a filter under the floor, held in place with cable ties and P-clips.
