Title: Part ID, Oil Pressure
Post by: jor on May 13, 2014, 06:20:19 pm
I was looking for loose connections (just preventive maintenance) and found one. Can someone ID the arrowed part, please. It's attached to the oil filter housing area. I see what looks like a sender on one end but is this a second sender or what. Anyhow, one of the poles that the wires attach to is loose so I'll need a new unit. Thanks.

The M11 has two oil sending units-one to the ECM and one to the FT dash gauge.

Thanks, Brett. I bet this one is for the ECM as the other looks like a common sending unit. I think I'll pull it and see if I can find one. Both my dash and VMS gauges work fine for now but might as well stay ahead of it.

The pressure switch comes in different flavors, NO  NC and specific pressure needed, suggest head to Cummins with your engine number.

Highly recommend that, if you haven't already, you sign up for the Cummins Quikserve online service.

Cummins QuickServe Online (https://quickserve.cummins.com/info/index.html)

It has all of the drawings and part numbers for your engine once you put your engine build number into it.  It makes it much easier to shop around for better prices.

Sounds like a great idea. Whoa! I'm already a member. I had forgotten that I am a member! First the hair, then the memory. Thanks for the reminder.

UPDATE: Still had our old ISM number on the site. Updated to the M11 but unfortunately, no manual for this one. Lots of parts info though. Can't find anything on this oil pressure switch. I'll be heading to Cummins tomorrow.

UPDATE II: Took it off; got the number; ordered one on eBay. I'll post when I install. Dave, gracias for the NO vs. NC advice.
