Title: heater/air blower
Post by: hjrein on May 18, 2014, 08:13:53 pm
I have a 1992 36' Grand villa.  The fan/blower only works when it is on high.  In researching the problem, it seems that the blower resistor has gone bad.  Does anyone know where the blower resistor is located?  Any help regarding a fan/blower problem would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Howard,
Can you follow the wire back from the blower motor?
It should go to the resister.
On my '95 that resister was mounted on the side of the air distribution box with the coils inside the box.
I could look in the air intake opening on the front of the air box and see the coils of the resister assembly.

Not sure, but think if you open the right side front door under the windshield you will find the heater box and the resistor pack should be either on the side or near the top. of the box.

Thanks John and Red tractor.  I will try to track those two items down.

1. Is the blower resistor located in the fan housing?  It seems that it is (not easily) accessible if you raise the dash and get to it on the passenger side.  There are two wires going into the fan assembly and about 5 or 6 screws holding the assembly to the housing.

2. Or is it located on the outside of the plastic housing (in my case it has a label that says frigid cool) that you get to by opening the passengers side front outside panel?

3. Does anyone have a picture of what the resistor unit looks like?

4.  Is the heater controls and assembly a Ford product?

thanks for any additional help.
