Can anyone tell me what the maximum stroke for a type 20 air chamber should be?
There's a Meritor Disk Brake manual with details on stoke and exactly how to check it.
To down load:
Go to "Photos/File" tab
Click on "Files Library"
Look alphabetically (on page 2 at this time for the number of items there now) for "Meritor Disk Brake"
I think page 48 in document (page 54 in PDF) is what you are looking for.

Thanks, to put your mind at ease, I'm not going to be doing any major adjusting. If things are out of spec I'll take it to an expert but I want to be able to check it. I will have to set the free stroke after greasing (awaiting grease from FT,) but that is easy enough. I've cleaned the slide pins and installed the springs. Rotor and pads are all good yet, no sign that anything had been hanging up. With the springs installed, the inboard pads are held against the rotor resulting in a small amount of drag. Is that why the inboard pad is thicker when new? Another surprise, with the free stroke set, the amount of movement on the slide pins is barely perceptible when brakes are applied. I guess I thought there would be a quarter inch or more.
