Title: Future FT Owner?
Post by: JD14 on June 04, 2014, 12:42:30 pm
I am new to the motor home world and my wife and I are looking for our first ever motor home.  We have friends who are highly recommending Foretravel but no longer have a coach.  I have not been able to actually see one and can find none for sale in Southern California to look at.  Does anyone in the SoCal area mind showing me what Foretravel has to offer by allowing us to take a look at their coach.  We are shopping for a 36' U270 or U295 in the early to mid-2000 era.

Please let me know if someone can help us with this.  We would appreciate any assistance.  Please PM me and I will give you my phone number.

Jim

Welcome, Jim. You are wise to start with the best. Take a look at the member map link at the top of the page. You should be able to locate someone fairly close to you. It has been my experience that owners like to show off their coaches. Contact someone near you and ask if you can see their coach. You may even be able to find one like what you are thinking about.

If you haven't already located Barry Beam's site, PM me and I'll send you the link. Lots of good information there.

Thanks for the suggestions.  By the way, I live in the Murrieta area.  Yes, I have looked at the Beam site on many occasions.  I am trying to do my homework before spending the money.  My one concern is that the headroom inside the coaches may be a little low for me at 6'2".  Only one way to find out, and that is to get inside and give it a try.

I'm still at least 6'1", and the center of my 2002 U270 is the shortest (ducted air), but it is still about 5" taller than I am.  The bedroom and front room are both a couple of inches taller, absent the ducting.

I'm just under 6  5  and I rub the ceiling if standing perfectly straight, under the vented area.

Hi Jim,

I hope you find the perfect coach for you.  I am 6'2" and shrinking.  I normally do not wear shoes in the coach and never hit anything.  If I have shoes on then the low points are the sliding door tracks at the ceiling by the bathroom and I will graze them if not paying attention.  I bump my head on the rail above the slide out in the LR once in a while bending over to look out the window.  Ours is padded and wrapped in leather like material.  Some as I recall are wood.

6'2" will fit fine.  Happy hunting!

Roger

I am now shrunken to 6'1" but was 6'3" before my discs were crushed.  No issue fitting.

I would like to thank Richard and Betty Bark (Bentley, too) for their hospitality for allowing my wife and I to have a thorough tour of their coach.  They treated us like old friends and we appreciated it very much.  Got some great insight and it helped in our decision making process.

We decided that we would pursue a Foretravel and plan to take a look at a couple that are for sale.  Will probably have to do some traveling since Texas is the place we have seen most of the coaches that are for sale.

Can't wait to join the fraternity.
