Title: Follow Along on the Alaska motorcade.
Post by: John S on June 24, 2014, 12:53:05 pm
One of the people on the motorcade to Alaska made a Facebook page of the trip. It is being updated regularly and it looks like a great time is being had.  If you are on Facebook all you have to do is like it.

Marilyn and I have been a posting a few pictures and narratives from our perspective of the "North to Alaska 2014" Motorcade at http://ak.stevens.com (http://ak.stevens.com).

We have logged about 4600 miles since we left home on May 29. This is quite an adventure for us. We've not spent more than about three weeks in a single adventure in our Foretravel.

JD  Really great that you and Marilyn are making this trip.  Enjoy and send more info and pictures.
Its a trip that everyone would love to make and on the bucket list but may never be made.  Dan

I've not seen any pictures.

The driver was by himself in the coach. To the best of my knowledge, he received no physical injuries.

Well, permission to post the info seems to have come.  Beverly posted a pic and the name on the Facebook page.  It will be interesting to see the damage after it is righted.

That is most interesting. We definitely hope to explore Alaska after retirement!

We drove down from Fairbanks to Denali yesterday, some rain on the way but no problem.  Today we took the 8 hour bus ride into Denali Park, a bit cloudy this morning but mostly sunshine in afternoon.  Very beautiful, great photos.  I'm sure George and Jeni will post some good ones on their Facebook page.  Tomorrow it's rafting and jeep trip in Denali park.  Aside from the one mishap it has been a great trip!

URL? I didn't find anything on the Motorcade Facebook page.

I am familiar with the accident because we drove by shortly after, and also visited with the driver a few times. I've not seen any information beyond what we've had in conversations on the tour.

The people on the Motorcade have been great. We've had a lot of lousy weather. Weather today was nice. We plan to ride the ATV in Denali tomorrow.

Jeni's "Alaska Bound" Facebook page is a good place to follow the Motorcade tour. She and George take lots of pictures and have remarkable energy to participate in the events.

Me neither, gave up that joke long time ago, and as I do not have a cell any more it would be useless anyway. Started in 85 with my first cell and needed it for sales work etc but now retired definitly do not need everyone to know were we are all the time. Realise it could be a possible problem while travelling, but before they came out we all got along just fine.

No, Tim, you are not the only one.  I try to avoid all of the social diseases on the computer as much as possible (except for Fore Forums of course).  I just sent my first text message within the last year.  Odd for someone who has been immersed in technology (and making money at it) for the last 40 plus years.  Amazing how many boats have sailed that I missed.

Funny guys, but I used to be that way til all my grands stuff was on there and in order to follow along I got a page. Now I get to push lots of stuff out too. Great fun...  But the fact is that there are lots of pics of motorcade events and other things that FT owners are doing on there too.

One thing I do not  understand is this "please like me" thing that I saw once on there!! Do they have a problem with self conciousness or something that they have to be liked to feel good???

There are all types.  It is sometimes easier to like a picture or comment then write one.  Especially on your phone.  I have connected with college and high school friends and know what my kids and grand kids are doing now too.

I for one, am pleased to see Beverly take the initiative and post a Facebook Page for the Motorcade Club.

Why don't they put the photos on the club page so we can all see them.

Why don't they put the photos on the club page so we can all see them.

The leaders of the tour are way too busy to provide pictures and updates for any kind of web pages. They do an outstanding job of managing the activities and taking care of us who are on the tour. Posting of pictures and reports is up to the participants who are not the primary leaders of the Motorcade. The participants choose their method of sharing information.

For those who don't use Facebook and would like to see a few photos and narratives, I'll repeat the URL to the journal that Marilyn and I are putting on our web site:

    http://ak.stevens.com (http://ak.stevens.com).

For those who do use Facebook, you may want to visit:

I'll include in this post a few of our pictures from an adventure today.
