Title: Air leak at the throttle control
Post by: Twig on July 19, 2014, 12:07:49 pm
Would anyone know why the check valve that is on the firewall with the throttle/cruise control be constantly leaking air? I just started it up for a trip and noticed that the air is escaping from the slot on the side. Cruise and throttle seem to work fine but the air pressure gauge keeps moving at governor cut out/in pressures. When I shut the engine off, the white needle on the gauge bleeds down to 50 psi while air escapes from the valve, then sets there and the air stops leaking.

This picture shows the valve just under the U of the wire wrapped cables.

That is the Pressure Reducing valve and it only operates when around 60lbs of air available. Take it apart and see if the diaphragm is leaking.

Well that was quick. Thanks John. You are correct. Slight adjustment tap with Ozark All Purpose Adjusting Tool did the trick. Will replace first chance. Soooo.....I guess this thread is close-ed.
