Title: Fisher & Paykel
Post by: Steve & Ginny Hill on July 20, 2014, 06:00:30 pm
Thinking of replacing OEM fridge with residential. Been looking for a counter depth model. Wow, are they expensive. Just went to Lowes and found a 17 cu ft Fisher & Paykel someone ordered and then refused. Originally $1699 marked down to $645. It would fit nicely with modification to lower cabinet. It draws 3 amps, so say 350 watts +-. My only issue is that I know NOTHING about this brand. Anyone here have any knowledge?

My favorite place to do appliance research  Appliances Forum - GardenWeb (http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/appl/)

That said, Samsung's RF197 or the new RS22 (replacement for the model Dave M. and we have) are counter depth.  The RF197 is an extremely popular 18 CF French Door model installed in many RVs as original equipment.

Threw away low hour dishwasher in a drawer set after multiple repairs.

Threw away an expensive washer and dryer after poor service and multiple repairs.

Both fisher and paykel.

$3,500 in the trash.  Three years?  Two middle aged people with moderate use.

I would not buy the refer myself

Can't comment on Fisher & Paykel refrigerators or other kitchen appliances, but do have the washer & dryer for the last 8 1/2 yrs. The DW loves them. She has mentioned trying to find a way to get them into what ever FT we finally get. Just my 2 cents worth.

"Just went to Lowes and found a 17 cu ft Fisher & Paykel someone ordered and then refused." I think I'd want to know why they refused it. If it doesn't fit, wrong color, etc. then there is no problem. I suspect that there is more wrong than that, though, given the $1000 price cut. I think I'd keep looking.

I think I would ask a few questions and buy it on a credit card. Deliver to install shop, and plug it in and use it for a couple of weeks outside coach. If you like it, put it in, if not return it for refund within 30 days.

If not returnable like most big box stores that might cause me to think twice, but talk to mgr. if any concern.

Person who ordered may not have been able to complete purchase. Plus mfg warranty applies as a new unit
