Does anyone know where and what size and type of prop struts to replace all of them, my baggage doors do not stay open anymore. Maybe a link for a good price? I need 12 of them.
Thanks; Pat
I would check with FOT. They had the best price for the cabinet struts in our coach, but do not know about the struts for the compartment doors.
Here is the information I have for the 1993 U240: Replace Attwood gas springs: 4 for basement doors: SL-34-40
Should be some markings on your present ones.
I got some from FT Parts last year. They were in stock and not too expensive, and all I needed was the coach model and width of the doors (determines the required spring weight) for the parts tech.
Look on the side of the body, you can fine vendor and part numbers. Go to the internet, no tax , free shipping, 3 days later they arrive at you front door. I have found Attwood Gas Spring 20 Lbs. 7-10 In. ATT-SL30205, Boat Parts and Accessories (http://www.jmsonline.net/attwood-gas-spring-20-lbs-7-10-in-att-sl30205.htm?gclid=CjwKEAjw9LKeBRDurOugs43jnlgSJACUXqHxtCbZ59this) one using a search string of "spring lift corp". on google.com They are $12.81. Be sure to check the length both compressed and extended.
Pat,
You can take one of them (they dismount rather easily) in to an RV parts store (like Camping World) and buy direct replacements. These are used in so many situations that lots of RV stores have racks of them in various sizes and weights.
I found that 20lbs is not enough for my doors (U225) and next time I'm getting something a little heavier. I ended up buying two struts and paring the new ones up with a single strut on a door that was still in good shape (took the other one off and paired that with the new on on the bad door). If that makes any sense....
