Title: The new shocks? FSD?
Post by: Dave M (RIP) on July 28, 2014, 05:22:58 pm
Forgot the fancy name on those big $$$ shocks, my first trip west bound on I-20 in Miss just west of Jackson where the road has very serious whoops, before the nes shcks, coach would bottom out thump! Now with the fancy FSD X 8, just a minor bump, no bang nor jarring from bottoming out, nice to know spending money was worth it.

Must...resist......the.......siren's.......call......

At least until next year.

The bad thing about this forum is how quickly it manages to separate me from my money.  Without the forum, I would be blissfully ignorant about so many expensive things.

While not frequency specific dampening the adjusting of the std Koni's was 75% effective IMO.

Frankly I did not like the identical front and rear FSD stock numbers.  While the rear air bags do run higher pressure internally to support the heavier axle which is part of the upwards travel resistance I would like to see adjustments.  My local cummins shop mentioned adjustable 30(?)  position shocks on some coaches p.  maybe not FSD's

They mention no adjustment.  Are they adjustable?

Let me google that for you (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=koni+fsd+adjustable)

While I understand how to google things and have researched this issue extensively for the last few years over many web sites and talked to koni directly I still wonder as some FSD shocks for other uses are marked adjustable on their bodies.

Google says I been to every possible website at least four times. "You visited"

My comment was for the stated reason that a shop guy mentioned a different more adjustable shock was being used on some newer rv's and he was aware of and his shop guys readjust my red tops twice for me.

Maybe kings?  If you google search my question yourself you will see a post from a site from 2010 where they are holding up a gold koni FSD that says adjustable on it.

Once in a while  I find obscure questions have first person answers from users themselves hence my question again here when the FSD's are mentioned.

My off road bikes all have FSD type suspensions for the last twenty years and are externally adjustable and revalveable.

We had Koni FSDs installed for FOT on our coach about three years ago. All eight shocks were the same model number. I've seen no indication that they are adjustable.

Correct.  FSD's are not adjustable (actually they "self-adjust" for different frequencies).

The other Konis-- the red-brown ones are adjustable: http://www.konirv.com/adjustment.cfm (http://www.konirv.com/adjustment.cfm)
