Title: Led lights
Post by: Forewheelers on August 04, 2014, 10:19:50 pm
Anyone have any information on the m4 products, double pin, elite series LEDs to replace the halogen lamps along the inside of the coach. I am wondering if the small LEDs will fit with the reflectors left in. Thanks.

You can pop the reflectors out as I did because they are not needed with the LED. Since the light just looks down.

I got a sample of these LED ceiling lamps from Foretravel.  They are the ones they are currently using in new coaches according to the parts dept.  Cheaper at Amazon. I replace all of my original flush mounted ceiling lamps.  About 1/2 are on dimmers.  Lots of light.

Amazon.com: ITC (69231B-3K-DB) 3" Radiance LED Overhead Light/Spring Mount: (http://amazon.com/gp/product/B00ISLQX18/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

$12.90 each with spring clips, a bit less with screw mounts.  3000°K warm white, 160 lumens, dimable, glass diffuser.  They use about 1/3 the power of the original lamps.

They fit in the existing hole.  On bare wood (like the map light and in the bedroom) i added about 1/16" space under the bottom shelf inside the cabinet for clearance.  Mounted in the ceiling, they fit fine.

There is a bigger 360 lumen lamp as well.  About $19.  Bigger hole.  We have one over the table and one under the kitchen cabinet over the kitchen cabinet.  Very nice. Also added LED strip lighting in most of the cabinet interiors.

There must not be enough load for the relays that switch off the ceiling lights in the slide area when it is in.  They just buzz.  I wired around them with a switch.  Since there is no heat issue you probably don't even need the switch.

After quite a while on they are just warm to the touch.

One of the best upgrades so far.  Refrigerator is imminent.

Here is another G4 based option.  10 - 20W equivalent.  About $3 each.  Might fit in existing fixtures with or without modification to them.

Weanas® 4x G4 Base 48 LED Light Bulb Lamp 3 Watt AC DC 12V/10V-24V Warm White (http://amazon.com/Weanas®-Undimmable-Equivalent-Incandescent-Replacement/dp/B00IJ7APY2/ref=sr_1_32?s=lamps-light&ie=UTF8&qid=1407589757&sr=1-32)
