I haven't used my roof air conditioners in a long time. Today I started up generator to work the air conditioners (as I don't have 50 amp or even 30 amp for that matter on the house extension cord.) Neither one would come on.
Is there a particular breaker I need to look for?
:-(
I would make sure that you are unplugged. Next question does any 120v items work like microwave TV.
Do you have an inverter? As for breakers there is a breaker for each ac unit. Mine is in the 2 panels under the bed skirt. Not sure on yours. If nothing works most gensets have a main breaker on them also. Turn off then on again to make sure it is set.
Did the generator power get to the AC outlets in the coach?
Thank you for responding. I was still plugged. Then I unplugged and waited awhile with nothing on for about 15 minutes and then just now I heard a click/clunk from down below that sound vaguely familiar. So, I tried the generator again, and the ac, and both ac's work! Hooray!
We've had an unusually hot summer here in Western Washington, so am very glad to be able to turn these on.
So, I guess the important thing is to not be plugged in to any shore power? Yes, I have an inverter - I think that was the sound I heard. I also have solar panels. And obviously I'm not sure how any of them work alone, let alone in concert. But am learning.
Thanks again.
Susan :)
Sounds like your transfer switch is shore-line biased and doesn't allow switch to generator power unless unplugged. That "clunk" is likely the sound of the relay in the transfer switch.
