Hello Everyone,
Here's an update on our Foretravel experience. After posting here with questions and receiving good advice on a number of things, we have taken the plunge. We recently went to the factory to take a tour and look at a coach they had there for sale. I really enjoyed looking around the factory (the DW leaves that kind of thing to me), and we were impressed with the fellows we met back in the service department.
We were not, however, impressed with the particular coach we had earmarked to look at. In one of those "happened to be in the right place at the right time" situations, FOT had had another coach come in while we were there that hadn't even been cleaned up, yet. We checked it out, and, long story short, it is now ours. It's a 40-foot 2008 Nimbus. Prior to our purchase, we visited with David to see if several things could be done/changed which would suit us better. No hill for a stepper. We're having recliners removed, cabinets with drawers installed, TV moved from the front to the passenger side facing the couch. Also having a Samsung residential refrig installed. Threads on this forum assisted with that decision.
I had emailed Brett Wolfe about doing a third-party inspection, but he's out on the west coast. He was nice enough to recommend another fellow, Keith Risch. I got in touch with Keith prior to our leaving for Nac, and he said he'd be glad to do it for us. He's a good hand. We got started about 5:15 pm, and finished up around 9:00 pm. I am impressed with his thoroughness. I told him I knew of others who could benefit from his services (prior posts I have seen here), and would it be all right if I passed his name along. He was agreeable to that--in fact, he had inspected another coach for another potential Foretravel owner earlier in the week (they purchased, also). I hesitate to post his info here, but if anyone is interested, pm me and I will give you his contact information. We ended our inspection by drawing oil and coolant samples, and I sent them off. They came back fine.
The only drawback is that it's going to be 3-4 weeks getting all this stuff done (I'm having the chassis and engine serviced also, while it's there at FOT), and it's going to be a bit of a hickey getting it like we want it, but we're counting on it lasting us for a long time. Tandem axle, 500 HP pre-DEF Cummins, transmission retarder, Oasis heat, etc.. I owe this forum a hearty "thanks" for the welcome, responses to our posts and the general information I got simply by following threads. Rest assured we will be making regular use of the forum, and I hope to be able to help out and throw in my two-cents-worth on occasion.
Thanks to everyone, again; guess I'll have to update my profile ;D .

Congratulations! Now you can update your signature and post some pictures.
Congrats. and welcome.
We on the Forum usually get a 10% referral when a coach is bought, so please send a chq to Dave M and he will divide it up 2500 ways.
Seriously, enjoy the coach and if ever on the west coast of BC Canada we have a spot for you.

Congratulation Raleigh and Linda. Welcome to the ForeForums ;D
Welcome! You won't regret owning a Foretravel, and you will love the service you get at the factory. All us guys with the 20-25 year old coaches are jealous!
Welcome and congrats on your new coach.
Welcome to the group. I almost prefer what we have now. Different idea then.
Congratulations on your new to you coach.
Hi Raleigh and Linda,
Congrats and happy travels. I'm with Dave M. Going on 4 years of nothing but a big grin here. Good thing these things have windshields or we would be scraping bugs off our teeth.
Roger
That is great and Keith is a great guy and it sounds like you got a great coach.
Raleigh, Daves area does not have fax lines just the stage coach that passes by.Iit's pretty remote out his way I hear so much so they have to use generators, and USPS stands for United States Pigeon Service :)) ^.^d

Congrats. Hope you have as much fun with yours as we are having. Seems like a bunch of motor homes being bought recently.
John,
I believe we can deal with that situation all right. We've got a bunch of whitewing doves here which sometimes hang around the patio. I'll net one, attach the check to its leg and point it northeast. It should be there in a couple of days, and everyone can expect a deposit within the week.
