Title: Rotating the Copilot Seat
Post by: TulsaTrent on August 17, 2014, 04:15:47 pm
Howdy!

Our Foretravel came with two 6-way power seats (Flexsteel) in the cockpit. The pilot seat has a lever on the lower right that allows the seat to swivel. I cannot find such a lever on the copilot seat.

Does the copilot seat swivel? If so, what is the secret?

Thanks,

Trent

Should be a lever for copilots seat also,IF it does rotate.

There must be a lever to unlock it. It is half way down the left side when sitting down and is black plastic. Pull it and turn seat at same time.

My lever is half way back ,close to floor. On R/H side of co-pilots seat, pull forward to release and rotate seat.

John,

That is what I thought and why I posed the question. There is no lever in that location.

The right side (of both seats) has a lever that allows the back to the recline. On the copilot's seat, there is another rocker switch on the right side for the electric footrest.

Is it possible that the electric footrest precludes the ability to swivel?

The swivel control for the pilot's seat is very low on the right side.

There is another possibility. It looks like the copilot seat and the sofa may have been recovered at some point. Maybe they covered up or removed the lever in that process?

Any one have a 2000-era U295 with electric footrest and a rotating copilot seat?

Thanks,

Trent

can you raise the foot rest, look underneath and see if the mechanical wire is in place?  OUr came disconnected, easy to replace it back and swivel.  But of course we had the outside lever to pull on.  Still, just look and see if the wire is under the seat?

yes, will be a good-sized handle (black) on the curb side of the chair, feel for it on the side of the seat cushion. Â May have to put seat temporarily more upright, or run forward to get it to swivel clear of the wall, but it will. Â At least that is the way it is on mine.

yes, I have electric footrest and mine rotates - first thing I do after I put out the slide - U-320 but doubt it matters - 2000 year 40'

look under the pilots chair and see what that mechanism (swivel looks like) - repeat on copilots chair and see if it is there....

Here is what I found on my 2000 U295. The lever is located under the skirt on the passenger side of the co-pilots chair. It is bent down either by design or by the PO (or PPO). The bent design allows the electric forward / back button to lock and unlock the rotation. All the way forward locks the rotation. All the way back (somewhere on the way back actually) unlocks the rotation.
I found it because I could not lock it after I rotated the chair. Lift the skirt and look under the chair on the passenger side.

Ed, found mine in the same place as yours; thanks! Mine is also bent, so it must be by design, but it sure makes it difficult to find (and use).

Once I found out how it is intended to be used, I think I prefer it. Normally I'm bent over, leaning to my right, trying to grab the lever. Then, while still holding the lever you twist your body to free the chair.  Using the electric control frees not only your hand but you are not leaning over.  Win Win for this old arthritic body.
