I do not know if that is what this part is called. But can someone help with the sourcing for one of these little tiny reels?
Edit: sorry about the sideway picture.
Looks like a small plastic spool. Would a Lowe's have something like that? Could you make something?
Hmmm, I wonder if a woodworker with a small lathe could turn out (pun intended) some in walnut, oak, pecan, and whatever other woods have been used?
Check out a fabrics store like Jo Ann Fabrics. Just the other day I saw a whole display of clear plastic bobbins and commented to the DW that those look like the ones we had in our GV holding the curtain cords.
Hi Peter,
Is this what you are looking for? Just google rv day night shade parts. Fixmyblinds.com had this, and other parts.
Raymond
That's it, Raymond. Thanks.
Peter.
Before we changed out to MCD shades, we discovered that a long lasting, trouble free option is to use
metal sewing machine bobbins. They are available in any Jo Ann's, or similar, cloth and sewing supplies store. They don't have the breakage issues that the plastic ones do.

Neal
I have purchased restringing kits at Camping World that include those.
When this reel broke yesterday, Beth suggested a sewing machine bobbin. Now I'm convinced. I didn't know how big those were. Thanks Neal for the confirmation!
We now have MCD shades which are more secure than our original pleated shades and don't ever need periodic restring. But when we did our many restringing's we made layouts for each type of shade and also attached is the correct string to use and where we purchased it at.
