Title: VMSpc Voltage Readout 1995 U320 Cummins M11
Post by: D.J. Osborn on September 08, 2014, 07:20:37 pm
I have been enjoying using the VMSpc on my 1995 U320 with the Cummins M11 engine, but I haven't been able to display the motorhome voltage. I have repeatedly performed the PID sniffer, but cannot find that parameter listed. I'm curious if anyone else with a 1995 U320 with the M11 engine has been successful in displaying the voltage on their VMSpc. Thanks!

D.J. I didn't know you could do that with the VMSPC ! Will have to check that out for our '03
 U-320.

Battery potential, PID 168??

D.J.  Ours is a 96 U320; I couldn't find the battery voltage with VMSPC either.  I found out from Silverleaf (we stopped in there on the way through Oregon last year) that the battery voltage reading wasn't available for the 96 M11.  It may be the same for the 95.

I'll check again, but I haven't seen that so far.

Thanks for the information. I suspected I couldn't find it because it wasn't available.

Another thing missing is the transmission gear display which shows up on the keypad instead.

Hi fellas

If the Transmission Gear isn't available easily [<Gauges> <New Transmission Indicator>...] maybe you can pull it off the BUS.
For some of these you may be able to 'sniff' for a PID on the CAN bus. One which isn't displayed on the Gauges menu...but is being reported.
Here's an example:

<Advanced>
  <PID Sniffer>
{example...} PID 501 PressurePro Warning...etc {pencil, paper...write that down}
<OK> closes sniffer

<Advanced>
  <Parameter Editor>
    <New> [gauge...get ready to transcribe your scribble]

[Box opens]
Rename <Gauge> NEW GAUGE to the PressurePro 'long form' "PressurePro Warning Light"
Rename <Abreviation> to PP!
Rename <PID> from 0 to 501

[UNIT is for degrees...volts...torpedos...whatever] For the PressurePro example, leave it blank. Use "Show Warning Lamp" for this type of Gauge.

[FORMAT %.2f  is for decimal places to the right of 0.  %.1f = 14.3  %.2f = 14.25  %.3f = 14.251. Caveat: Accuracy isn't improved by lengthy precision. 3-digits is prolly more nerdy than useful.]

cheers
