Title: auto fresh water fill valve
Post by: Lon and Cheryl on September 08, 2014, 07:34:03 pm
I need to replace the fresh water fill valve on my 95 u320.
I called Foretravel and was told $300 for the valve.
MoT wanted $225
Is there a.better source for this 12v valve?
For that cost I.may just go to a.manual valve.

I have a 95 u320 also I replaced mine with a manual valve less than $50.00 . I found it was easy to open the valve manually and close it when the tank is full.

Lon,

Back when our units were built FT used  Parker Hannifin valves, rebuild kits are available if that is still the original valve. Depending on which valve you have will dictate the cost of the kit but the last one I bought was about $ 80.

Are you sure it needs replaced?  I had ours apart several times before finding a sliver of thread tape that would periodically cover the small hold that pressurizes the valve.

I will remove the valve this weekend and install a manual valve. I will take the auto valve apart to see whats wrong and then decide if I want to replace or rebuild or just stick with a manual valve.
Either way I will make sure I have a manual option in case the auto valve ever fails again.

Parker Hannifin Repair Kit
60-450 (my cost $50.99) add $10 for UPS
TCD Parts Inc.  (in Mo.)
800-823-8313/Nancy

There are 3 kits. The listed number is the 3/6"-1/2" kit. Check which you have.

Ps. There is a donut shaped screen that is (typically) the problem..
I have removed this piece of screen and added an inline pre-filter (which is an improvement btw) and gotten away with spending less than getting the repair kit.. pc

I replaced the one in our 95 but it turned out it wasn't the problem. Instead, the problem was that the valve was being obstructed by calcium deposits from the hot water heater (photo). Anyhow, after I got that all fixed I installed a manual fill directly from my water hose reel and haven't used the fill valve since! Much faster fill too.

I found a lot of 2 NIB rebuilding kits for this valve on ebay for $20.

The same seller has a NIB complete valve for $65 if anybody is interested.
