Title: voltage regulator and diverter box
Post by: RollinO on September 15, 2014, 09:18:54 am
Does anyone know if there is a voltage regulator in the diverter box that is under our bed? We have shop tested our alternator and its voltage regulator, it is brand new.  Howver, we are still getting an 18-19 volt reading on the "house side" and an 8-9 reading on the engine side. Need a little troubleshooting help. Someone mentioned the diverter box.

The blue box that I called the diverter is really called an isolator. It is the original isolator. Does it have a voltage regulator as part of it? When we disconnect the house side from the isolator and the now the alternator is putting out only 12 volts (we'd like to see 14 volts but thinking the isolator is bad??

Bruce,  What changed that makes you suspect problems ?
Did you install a new alternator ?
If so was it the correct one ?
Start by checking output at alternator, should be 14 V or so.
Then check V at middle post of isolator, should be 14 V.
Then check V at Each battery bank, should be slight drop but not much.
Give me a call at 7705953891, will try to help. I'm in GA.
