Title: Boost switch light flashing
Post by: Retired Navy Chief on September 18, 2014, 10:34:59 am
My 03 U320 boost switch light is flashing. I can hear a relay over under the dash in front of the passengers seat clicky and the electrical gauge is bumping up and down as it flashes. My Silverleaf is reading one yellow bar over the green at 14.3 volts.  Any ideas?  Thanks, David

David, Sounds like solenoid is dropping in and out either due to low voltage or loose connection.  Clean and tighten connections and check voltage at batteries and solenoid.

All are snug.  On batteries and solenoid.  I put new yellow tops in last spring and have not had any issues until now.  David

David, Check the sense wire on the solenoid, if it is loose or corroded and there is intermittent contact that can lead to the condition that you describe.
Possible but not likely is that the wire on the ignition switch that goes to the solenoid is loose or corroded.

Cleaning all cables and post studs, coating with dielectric grease did not cure the problem.  I looked at the electrical drawings and the only thing in common is the solenoid so decided to tap on it with a wrench and wallah the chatter stopped and light is on steady.  There really was not much on the boost switch from a search.
So if your boost switch is flashing tap on the solenoid first and see if that works.  If not then move on to that dreaded job of crawling under the coach to the batteries.  Thanks for all your help.  David
