Title: Battery
Post by: stump on September 23, 2014, 08:55:53 pm
I am going to need a new battery when I go to get the 91 GV do all these use a 8D battery for the engine start? I forgot to look at it when I was in Tn.

I would call the seller and ask them to look at it for you though.

The seller is in Mass and the previous owner is dead.

Our 93 U300 has three regular-sized batteries (forget the size designation) for the engine and two 8D batteries for the house. Those 8D batteries are very heavy and expensive, so you don't really want to carry one around if you don't have to. I had to replace my two 8D batteries earlier this year. I went to O'Reilly's and ordered them. They arrived at the store the next day but I couldn't get the coach down there for a couple of days. When I finally got there two strong young men wheeled out the new batteries, changed them, and wheeled the old ones back into the store for me. You might want to want until you know for sure what you need before ordering anything. Oh, btw, those two new 8D batteries cost just over $900 for the pair.

That is just a great price. Lifelines and East Penn go for over $700 each.

Our 1993 U300 has three 34 series at the rear bumper. Three 31 series would be more CCA for about the same price but with a shorter warranty.

Earlier models will have a rear radiator so the start battery(s) will be in a different location.

When we bought our coach one of the 8Ds was bad and the other one was new. Battery Mart here in town had replaced one of the batteries. When we drove the coach in they replaced BOTH batteries and I only had to pay for one--$180 plus tax.

NOT a bad deal!!.

I can't find anything official that says so, but  O'Riellys Super Start Fleet Heavy Duty AGM Battery is supposedly made by East Penn/Deka. It certainly looks like the MK/Deka 8DAGM's.
