Title: New floor and reupholstered couch in the future.
Post by: Carol & Scott on October 01, 2014, 11:08:02 pm
After working on available options as to getting a new floor in the living area and bedroom installed as well as reupholstering the couch/scissor bed, we have decided to have them both done by FOT.  I will be ordering the flooring tomorrow on line to be delivered to Mr. Flanagan.  We have found a couple of folks that have said that they do RV floors and have looked at their work - it was OK.  Most times when asking them what they would do in this area or that area they would scratch their head and provide a possible solution.  Carpeting will be replaced in the bedroom.  Have also found a number of places that will redo the couch but we will have FOT do that too.

Every time I asked Mr. Flanagan a question, and there have been many, he has had "the" answer.  In my opinion  the  best  answer(s)/solution(s).  So...He will be installing a Shaw product in the 5th & Main Collection - Color is #163 Almont.  It is a commercial grade vinyl that looks like stone.  The material is 6" x 36" and will be installed in a herringbone pattern.  He will use no quarter round for this install even around the kitchen cabinets.  All of the pieces will be cut to shape with a small grout line next to the dash, cabinets and any other hard vertical planes.  He will also build a box that will be attached below the dinette table covered in the matching vinyl that can be removed to access the slide hydraulic cylinder.  Corian bullnose around the entry step area.  I must admit that he has all of the answers and his work is excellent.

It will take about 5 days for this transformation to occur so we shall stay in a local Nac. motel.  Suggestions?

True - FOT will be more expensive than the other guys but I think that the job will be done well with no regrets.  I have mixed feelings about FOT doing this job as I really wanted to find a way to save that $$$$, however, I did not feel confident that the other floor guys could equal what David's crew will do and I am too old, bald and fat to be on my knees for and extended period of time.  (really didn't want to admit that either)

I think this update will augment and put a smile on our Ol' Girl.  I'm sure it will help us to feel more comfortable, add some of our personality to her and put a smile on our faces.  :D

I've heard the LaQuinta was updated fairly recently.  It's pet friendly for Harley.  It's wallet friendly as well.

I Googled the flooring - looks like a really nice choice and I love the idea of the herringbone.  What color are you going with for the sofa?

there is a new holiday in right next door too but it is more expensive.  I think you will not regret FOT doing it. They do great work.

Scott, we stayed at LaQuinta on Hwy 59 at south end of town.  It is a older motel, but well kept up and our "non-smoking" room was acceptable.  We had a queen bed, with microwave and small fridge.  The building is 2-story, and all rooms have outside entry.  Ask for a room on the "back side" of the building - it is nice and shady in the afternoon, and you don't get as much traffic or highway noise.

We paid about $55 per night (plus all the assorted fees and taxes), and no extra charge for our little dog Bella.

Michelle - We will be having the couch done in the Brisso Collection - Lasso Color # 107621 - It is a medium brown with graining.

Thanks for the motel info. - We have accumulated points on our CC so, in a way, the motel will not cost anything.

Ken - As discussed: I am not the sharpest tack in the box but could not see my self on my hands and knees for days trying to get a good job done.  I have not seen anything that David's crew has done that was not excellent and excellent is what our Ol' Girl deserves.  Might get the Stressless done in the same fabric as the couch too.

Went to Nac twice in Aug and stayed in the LaQuinta on Hwy 59 And in the Quality Inn right across the Hwy from the LQ.  Preferred the QI, room was bigger and updated compared to LQ.  Also, they have an indoor pool, fitness center and a good comp breakfast.  Several guest were there with dogs.

Best thing is the Dairy Queen is right next door.  If you stay at the LQ you have to walk across the highway .

Scott, I just did a floor and upholstery up grade about 4 mos ago. It was a fun project but "hands and Knee " time was not fun. We could not find anyone who wanted to do the install of the flooring at anything less than crazy money ($1200.00) and I had the sub floor clean and ready to go.
