Title: Dometic Fridge Needs A New Board?
Post by: Keith and Joyce on October 12, 2014, 12:16:51 pm
We have had the coach at the local navy base all summer.  Many problems with the electricity, several coaches seem to have had incidents.  Last week fridge stopped working: Control panel light comes on when switched on.  Won't change to electric, gas light comes on for 45 sec. then check light comes on.  There is 120v to fridge and there is gas at the fridge solenoid.  Therefore I think the board got zapped despite having a Progressive Industries unit built into coach.  I have a friend who is also here that has the same problem.

Question does anyone have a board or two for a Dometic RM7130 circa 1995?

We will be installing a residential fridge when we get to AC but that is a way away now.

Try dinosaur boards, or parts at Parliament Coach ( take outs for residential)

We had a problem last Christmas, and the local RV repair service truck guy had some used take off's in his supply.  He takes them from units that are getting junked for other reasons.  His price was maybe $75, plus an hour of his labor.  Got us up and running within an hour of my call.

Hope you can find a used board. Don't forget that you can put your own 120-volts to the heating element and cool your fridge, but you will have to manually turn power on & off, but it will work until you have your electric fridge.

Just in case you find the need to buy a replacement electronics board, consider after-market  Dinosaur Electronics Home. High quality circuit boards for RV appliances. (http://www.dinosaurelectronics.com/) , which are considered better than OEM boards.

I would look at the ignitor before spending money on a board.

Keith , I ASSUME that you have already done so but if not pull the connectors off the board and clean and replace, along with positioning the igniter correctly this may solve you problem.  SOME boards have a fuse on them, hard to see, check it also.

Thanks everyone.

I checked and cleaned everything.  There is an inline fuse as well as two on the board, all good.  Every connector is clean so It's time for a new board I suppose.

There are a lot of domestics being pulled out and replaced with residential fridges now.  I just replaced my RM7132 down at Nac.  Nothing wrong with control board, lost ammonia.  When I left there was another dometic sitting outside David's shop that had been pulled out, also ammonia leak.  They are replacing these regularly.  I know the rv place down in Baytown, Tx is doing a lot of them too.  If you are anywhere near an RV remodel place there may be one still laying around with a control board that would still work for you. You might call FOT or MOT and see if they have one they could pull out and send you.

After you have done all your checks, and check all of you grounds in the back of the fridge, if you decide you need a new board(s) you might try Dinosaur electrics. I have replaced all of the boards in the water heater, and fridge with them and eliminated all of the gremlins.

We replaced the one on Geoff & Pats 94 240 fridge with a Dinasour and it was faulty. Once we had gone thru a check list on it they sent another out right away and now all is ok with it.
Good service and easy people to talk too. Highly recomend them
