I had not tried this combination on the Duo-Therm Comfort Control before. But, when I turned the Aqua-hot furnace on for the front (Zone 1) area and the Heat Pump on for the bedroom (Zone 2), I was surprised that the Heat Pump never came on. Instead the Aqua-hot furnace turned on in the bedroom and was, of course, running in the front as I had expected.
My question: is this normal operation?
Thank, Dick
Yes
With the original Comfort Control that came with our coach, we observed the same behavior. You couldn't have one zone on furnace with the other on heat pump.
With the new control that was installed with our new roof units this past spring, we can and DO run one zone on AquaHot with the other on Heat Pump as needed to keep parts of the coach quieter and it performs flawlessly.
Thanks.
I keep learning. ;)
I noticed the same thing about a week ago for the first time. Now, at least, I know it's normal.
I suspect selecting furnace/Aqua Hot on one zone and any form of A/C use (such as heat pump) on the other zone are incompatible for the 4 button Comfort Control. Perhaps its programming then is defaulting to furnace/Aqua Hot for both zones. The five button Comfort Control might perform similarly.
