Title: Attwood Air Command AC
Post by: Kemahjohn on October 16, 2014, 04:19:57 pm
Anyone have any experience with the Attwood Air Command AC units?
I'm looking to replace my Dometic very NOISY nearly new unit.  The Atwood unit has two independent fans, one for the condenser and one for the evaporator, where most RV AC units have only one fan.  The Attwood is reported to be very quiet, but is a bit more expensive than some other units.  Anyone have one of these installed?  They mount exactly like the Dometic.

We would like to know just how these units work.  We had had endless go-arounds with Dometic on the new unit that was installed on our coach.  They even replaced it but it's way too noisy.

John,

I long ago replaced my Dometics with Colemans.  But the new Attwoods with the two fans is real appealing to me.  If one of my current A/Cs died, I think I would try one out.  Having the condenser fan run on high all the time while the evaporator fan is on low seems like a winner to me.

I have seen one at Channelview Supply and they look the same as the other two high profile A/C brand units.  If you come up to Channelview to look at one, please let me know as I would like to tag along.

I saw them down at Due's camper in Dickinson.  About $1K installed, 15,500 btu.

I had put one in our SOB just before we sold it. It is quite and works great. The heat pump will keep you nice and warm. We were using it in 30 degree weather and it worked fine. Just waiting for ours to quit so I can replace both of them with the Attwood. They are a little bit taller than others if you have a height problem but there is no comparison. For price We paid $600 for ours and $200 install. Other than getting it on the roof, it is a snap to install. The remote is pretty cool too and the tilt controls also.
