Title: replacement cooling units
Post by: Horace B. Cupp on October 27, 2014, 06:17:46 pm
My Dometic model RM 7832 is now 12 years old and I have been exploring options for replacement. I do not really want to switch to residential unless absolutely necessary. It has been my understanding that only rebuilt cooling units were available for this model, previously. On the advice of the owner of an SOB, I contacted Arcticold. They will have a new replacement cooling unit for this refrigerator available after October 31, 2014. A new addition to their line. It is reportedly a more robust unit than the original equipment. The price quoted was $1250 and I believe this includes shipping and taxes(?).

I bought a new cooling unit for my RM7832 from rvcoolingunit.com for under $1000 and it is working great in my 96 coach.

My 7832 work ok.  Two days precooling empty on #4 and its 37 at the top and 40 at the bottom keepers.

Poor airflow inside when full although.  Started to work with the rv refer fan guy in the spring but got busy.  Says he can make a unit that will fit the refer side based on my dimensions. Downward forced air flow over the coils with fans and a cover over the rear of the refer compartments fins.

Someone with more time might get ahold of him for all of us?

Adding in the freezer compressor really adds extra cooling as it should.  And allows the temp to be set at #3.  Later models do not have the compressor after 99?

BTW I added the condensor cooling fans because it is so hot in south Texas. I think they really help.

I have them but not mounted yet. Glad they work.  Two or three fans?

I just put two on the 96 coach. I have ordered three for the 05 coach but have not installed them yet.
