Title: Who posted how they sealed around entry door?
Post by: nitehawk on October 28, 2014, 12:13:57 pm
Need some help here. Come spring I want to put a new seal around our entry door. I read a post re this, bought the 5/16x5/8 EDPM (5) "finger" seal and the 7/16x3/4 foam tape but don't know just how it goes.

Advice? Help? pictures? Please send me a PM if you are the original poster.

Thanks, nitehawk

Don't know if this helps but it's about removing the door but shows the weatherstrip replacement:

Thanks, Keith. But, the video shows--I think-- the 7/16x3/4 foam on the coach side of the hinge and going up just to the first  screen door hinge. Correct? Or do I put the foam all the way up and around? Also, the EDPM all the way around the door and close to the inside edge of the door?

I won't be doing anything to the coach until we get it out of storage this spring but I am getting my plans, projects, and materials together over the winter. Sure miss having the coach here within sight. First time in three years.

Don't know as my coach is a '95.  I am sure that a GV owner can chip in.  Brett had one and I am sure that he would know.

Here's a brief note I copied and saved almost 2 years ago. It might lead you to more information from the author.
BTW, I asked FOT to replace our door gasket last time we were there. They didn't have the gasket, so they stuffed D-foam inside the existing gasket. Not sure what size D-foam (they have two sizes in parts), but they opened the corners and used stiff wire to push it in. Then sealed the corners somehow. We just had some major rain here in Salem, OR and our steps stayed dry.

Thanks Dick.
I read the description but unfortunately the gasket on our door is a black rubber "V" shape, glued to the door. No tube shape or anything I could put something inside of.
I have already purchased the "five finger" EPDM weather seal and know where that goes, after watching the installation video posted above. Now I need to know how much & where to put the 7/16 x 3/4 foam weatherstrip.

If memory serves me I think the grand villa entry doors were purchased from winnebago?

The entry door on my old 95 U280 was manufactured in CA by ASI ( Aircraft Services Inc ? ).  At one time I called them and they still had nylon bushings for the hinges.
If you remove the inside trim you will find a part # and on some the part # will be on the lock set opposite the door striker. Number will start "ASI ****** .

Thanks, Gary, but can't look until spring. The coach is stored indoors, in an unheated building, and without electricity. There is no way I am going out there in the cold and dismantle the door.
