Title: Bad and Good Service in Oregon

We had a very unhappy experience with Pacific Power in Eugene, OR.  Jim made an appointment for them to fix our rear wheel speed sensors.  We spent the morning there, only to have them get sidetracked into other "things" that they knew nothing about, calling Foretravel (instead of asking Jim), waiting for a call back, flailing around-- not working on the speed sensors.  Jim was not allowed in the service bay, and at first was not even allowed to talk to the person doing the work.  After Jim got them back on task, they informed him they would have to take the rear axle/wheel apart to determine the part number and then they didn't think they would have the part.  Enough!  Jim told them to forget it, to put things back together and we'd go somewhere else.  So, $400 later, they gave the coach back to us.

And it wouldn't start.  The check engine light was also on.  Jim went back in and talked to them but they knew nothing and Jim, having already learned they were not someone to work on the coach, came back out.  By turning on the generator and boost switch, he got the coach running.

Fortunately, Country Coach Service Center was just up the road in Junction City.  Even though it was the end of the day (and the weather was miserable), a service tech came right out and did some initial checking -- listening to Jim!  Between the two of them, they decided it was an engine battery problem.  The tech parked us where we had power for the night and put a battery charger on for overnight.

The next morning, the SAME tech came out.  The coach now wouldn't start at all (even with the boost switch on) and the batteries were not charged.  Finally, Jim got the coach to start and the tech drove the coach into a service bay where he troubleshot the problem.  Jim was able to be with him so that he could answer any questions.  It ended up being a bad connector that was keeping the batteries from being charged.

Jim was really impressed with Country Coach service.  The tech was professional, knew how to troubleshoot, and would listen to Jim.  The fact that Jim could be right there was a big plus.

We would recommend checking with Country Coach in Junction City if you need work done while in Oregon.

Jim decided to not do anything more with the rear wheel speed sensors right now.  We want to get south to California before a predicted storm hits so Jim will figure out what to do about the speed sensors once we are in Indio for the winter.

Thanks for the info, that's been our southbound Route for the past 14 years always considered that being a place to have service done if necessary. Glad Country coach was able to help and diagnose your starting problem.

From another thread;
We drove down I5 to Coburg, OR today.  It was amazing to see the trees, branches, and debris down all over.  The political signs along the roadway seemed to have taken a particularly hard beating, which probably isn't a bad thing.  We are parked at RV Glass Solutions to get our driver side windshield replaced tomorrow.  They have a big tree down in their front parking.
Can you tell us how your windshield replacement went? Some specific questions are; Does the tint match up on both sides as to color and extent? Did they have new gaskets? The reason I ask is that the cracked passenger side on ours is a Viracon with a blue tint and the driver side is a Coach Glass with a Green tint that extend downward at least an inch or more than the passenger side. We are still at South Jetty near Florence and I am really wanting to get the cracked windshield done as painlessly as possible ($500 deductible is painful enough!).

The windshield replacement went smoothly.

The tint is a slightly different color, but not really too noticeable.  On both sides, the tint lines up.

They did not remove the gasket.  They simply loosened the glass from the gasket, hooked a vacuum thing onto the windshield, and, with a few gentle tugs, pulled the glass out without disturbing the gasket seal to the coach.  They started about 8:30 and had the coach back to us at 2:30 and said it was ready to drive (we spent the night there anyway as we had an appointment at Pacific Power the next morning).

The company is RV Glass Solutions in Coburg just behind the Marathon factory.  They provide service nationwide.  Tech said they install about 22,000 RV windshields a year!  It was clear they knew what they were doing.

It was nice in that the facility is one of their two warehouses (and corporate headquarters), so they have all possible glass right there in stock.

Free 50 amp hookup on a nice flat piece of asphalt.

Only negative is that their customer lounge does not allow dogs.
