Post by: alan1958 on November 03, 2014, 07:31:11 am
I found a local starter shop that also sells batterys.
There dealer buys seconds he had 4 4d agm dekas
I decided to try 4 of them to replace my 3 8d mk's
That are only lasting 30 min. Then genset starts.3 right
Now run for 4 hours and I turned power back on.
Will install 4 next weekend. I have to make a new top
Bracket to hold the 4th one. Will keep you informed
So far I like 3 for the price of one. Weight comes in right
About the same. Will let you know.

Make sure your battery charger is set for the correct battery type and AH rating of the new set AND charge profile (if it was previously set for gel, you need to set it for AGM since they have different requirements).

Per Deka Intimidator spec sheet

3 8D's are 245 AH x 3 = 735 AH

current set up of 3 4D's 198 AH x 3 = 594 AH

4 4D's are  going to be 198 x 4 = 792 AH

Need to be measured for actual capacity and each batteries condition.  Stronger ones at the end of the string as it were.

Very poor luck personally in the Rv biz reusing used batteries.  But versus 30 minutes?

I did change the settings. And these are blems not used. The manufacturer sticker is j14. one side of them is smooth so they don't match. That is all I can find wrong. So far so good I'm putting the forth in Saturday. Way better then my old ones.
