Title: ac shroud
Post by: wayne m on November 04, 2014, 02:13:28 pm
a few days ago southbound for yuma we encountered a severe storm that
relieved us of one of the ac shrouds.  the dometic shrouds are very fragile
and in my opinion, like several dometic products are built to fail.
I have found an aftermarket brand called icon. they claim to be much stronger
than dometic.
has anybody used this product or any other brand that works

I can't recommend a replacement but you can get more life out of them by reinforcing them with fiberglass before they blow off.

Or even stainless steel fender washers.

I have two in the garage ready to install.  They seem heavier than the OEM.

when I had my roof units cleaned and checked out 6 weeks ago, the front cover was missing, the shop had a slightly used cover for $50.00, they put it on, next time at Xtreme, will have them match the paint.  Interesting, only 1 screw remained from original cover, guess the 3 others worked out, and then broke the cover off leaving the 1 remaining.
The great point, with all the dirt etc removed from coils etc, it now feels like move volume of air moving with less noise.  A win-win.
