Title: Wiring Tips ?
Post by: toyman on November 09, 2014, 10:07:16 am
I am getting ready to put a battery monitor in my new to me '03, 36', 270. I would like to mount it either in the cabinet with the Prosine panel, or in the wood channel that runs up by the drivers left shoulder. Any tips on running wire in the FT will be appreciated.

I put my Tri-Metric display up with the Prosine panel.

It took a while, but was eventually able to fish baling wire with a length of string up through the run of wires in the corner of the refrigerator cabinet.  Then, equally difficult was running it under the floor, above the outside compartments to the battery cabinet.  It was not fun, but I really wanted those panels together up in that cabinet.  Others have placed the monitor panel on the backside of the sink or other kitchen cabinet so it is visible from the cab, whenever you're just sitting in the living room, or especially just being able to see it just by leaning in the front door, without having to enter the coach at all.  That would be a lot more convenient to be able to just glance at it, but I just wanted them together up top.

I was about to open up the channel that runs up the by the driver's left shoulder, but finally figured out how to access the channel that runs up the front left corner of the windshield.  There were a couple of screws that were hidden under the leather covering the wood trim.  I needed to get my Silverleaf wire connected to a mini PC mounted up near the TV.  So I still don't know anything about the left shoulder channel.

Here are a couple of threads, some used the same method I used.

If you try the advanced search method, and enter "tri-metric" and select "Show most recent posts first" it will pull up a bunch of threads on this.

Do you have a wire coming from your house battery up to the dash?  In our 91 GV I was able to pick up a wire that was feeding something else in the dash and piggy backed that wire to connect my battery monitor to.  I installed the battery monitor on my steering column which allows me to monitor battery voltage underway and close the boost switch to charge the house battery when voltage gets down around 12.2 volts.  Works well for me.  Have a great day  ----  Fritz
