Title: Flashing instrument lights
Post by: BamaFan on November 13, 2014, 07:22:39 pm
Can someone tell me why my instrument lights flash 5 or 6 times when I turn the ignition on? I can find nothing about this in the owner's manual. I suspect that my engine batteries are on their last legs (I am having them replaced next week). Could that be the cause of all my instrument lights flashing? Thanks.

That one is new on me.  Mine flash when I hit the remote only. I had low battery and a dead one even but it never caused it to flash. Push the boost switch next time and see if it stops.

Royce,

If you suspect the chassis batteries as the cause, see what happens when you activate the BOOST SWITCH before beginning the starting process.  Assuming the house batteries are in good shape, that should provide sufficient voltage to eliminate the batteries as the cause.

Brett,

Your idea seems to be correct. When I turn on the booster switch prior to turning on the ignition, there is no flashing of the instruments. So it must be a low battery indication. Thanks for the hint.

OK, my DCvolt meter back light is normally on (when lights are on) but some times it goes dark, cannot detect a bad  connection.  A little weird as meter show 0 to 32 volt range.
