Title: Replaced Inverter/charger
Post by: Fiddler on November 15, 2014, 04:12:54 pm
Finally gave up on seeking a repair for my Xantrex Prosine 2.5 Inverter/Charger.  The Statpower Prosine remote Control panel works fine;  but the inverter/charger displayed an"Internal" fault code 194 where the documented "possible cause" is described as "Various.  There could be a fault inside the unit or the microprocessor is fooled by some external condition."
The physical condition of the unit looks new and well constructed; I think the case is billet aluminum .  Such a shame when contacting Xantrex where they reported repairs were no longer performed on these obsolete units now only replaceable with Xantrex'  "Freedom" line of inverters.
Does anyone know to whom or where these things may have any marketable value at all?  Not repairable?  Seems hard to believe that one day the system is working fine and after a power fail at the storage facility the unit no longer works.

Nonetheless; just a short note to share my experience for the hopeful benefit to our forum:

I replaced the system with a Magnum Energy system purchased from iMarine

consisting of the following:
MS2812 Pure Sine Wave INverter/Charger
ME-BMK Battery Monitor
ME-ARC50 Advance Remote Control Panel

They also sell an Auto Gen Start option controlled by the MS2812 unit but having one already provided from the factory, and still working fine...no reason to replace.

Very pleased with the system so far;  still trying to make friends with all the information provided by the Advanced Remote control panel.  The battery monitor is a nice touch for providing very useful information on the current state of the house batteries.  Looking forward to comments/questions.

I prefer to see inverters (or any other item that produces a lot of heat) mounted lower in the compartment for better cooling.

I know a lot of coaches have them mounted high for more room in the basement, but unless auxiliary fans are used, the hotter run temperatures can't add to equipment longevity.

We also replaced our Prosine with the Magnum 2812 as well as the ARC50 remote purchased from iMarine.  We use the TriMetric TM 2025 RV for State Of Charge and other stuff.  Our Prosine ended up in the garbage.
