My first post and new 1991 33 foot Foretravel owner.
I am trying to remove the recliner that looks like this http://www.foreforums.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=17856.0;attach=14428;image (http://www.foreforums.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=17856.0;attach=14428;image)
I would like to raise it about 3 or 4 inches because its way to low to be useful at the table. I cannot for the life of me figure out how it comes out. I see no bolts under the coach and only a couple of philips head screws on a wood base. these philips heads are not accessible because the chair is over them. If anyone could give e some insight on how I can remove this recliner so i can raise it, it would be very much appreciated.
Remove the bottom cushion. Use a long bit extension approx 18" should work. The base is screwed to the floor using approx 4 3" #2 square drive screws. You'll have to swivel the chair to access all of them. They're usually put along the edge of the base. Two down each side if i remember.
After you unscrew it from the floor, know that later coaches do not fasten recliners down anymore.
I made a spacer/riser box out of 2"X4" standing on edge. Height comes out perfect.
Thank you all for the replies! I'll be back with the outcome!
OMG really! Take of the cushion.. boy I feel Silly. Yep, I can see the screws clearly. Amazing how something so simple frustrated me LOL. thanks again all. Time to raise my computer chair!
Welcome Logowagon! We've had our coach for nearly two years, and until I read this today I didn't know how to get that chair loose, either. Good thing I looked today, as yesterday our 19-month-old grandson was here and I found a couple of things that he managed to toss under the chair.
ok.. well, It took all of 3 minutes to remove. Thanks nitehawk for the riser box idea. Works perfectly now. The next problem to solve is how not to fall asleep while working.
When I replaced the carpet with tile I tried not fastening the round base to the floor. The recliner tipped over backwards when the DW tried to recline so I had to screw the base down. Hopefully your recliner is a different type than our 1989 model!!
