Title: Foretravel want to be
Post by: iwanttorv2 on November 27, 2014, 05:54:21 pm
Happy Thanksgiving. My husband and I returned from a trip to MN yesterday and finally saw a Grand Villa and a newer Foretravel on the road. We live in the Tampa Bay Area and wonder if any Foretravel owners are in the area, would be attending the Tampa RV Super Show and willing to meet us. We are interested in Foretravel after reading several forums, looking to be full timers in the near future. From what we read, Foretravels are well built coaches.
We appreciate the wealth of information from the enthusiastic Foretravel owners on the forum. We look forward to learning more.
Sue

Welcome Sue, quite a few Foretravels in the Tampa area....about 35 miles east of Tampa just north of Lakeland is a gated community called Mount Olive Shores, which I believe was started by Foretravel owners.  It's chock full of Foretravels, & I'd be glad to give you a little tour & a closer look at one of the late 90's coaches which I think are the most classically beautiful ones around!  I'll be at the show too but may not bring the coach, & I live in South Pasadena, in the St. Pete. Beach area.

Sue,

My coach is at Parliament coach in St Pete. Talk to Chris in service if you would like to see it. I get there Wednesday to move it to Port Richey for Mom to stay in over the winter, and I leave Sat AM. Would you like to connect while I am there this week?

Hi Sue, Welcome.  Next time you are in MN give us a call.  We are in Hastings. FT is in the "barn" and easy to see.

Welcome Sue,
We intend to be at the Tampa RV Super Show.  Would love to assist in your understanding of all things Foretravel.  We will be volunteering at the show but can certainly find time to help a potential FT Owner and we'll give you as much of a tour of our coach as you would like.  We love to do this and you just have to let us know how we can be of help.
Neal (and Brenda)

Unfortunately we won't be anywhere near Tampa this winter, but I do want to congratulate you on deciding to check out Foretravels. I had wanted one for a number of years, and we finally found just the right one for us in late 2013. We have been extremely pleased with it. As far as I'm concerned, Foretravels have just the right balance of engineering, design, styling and various other features. If you go ahead and purchase one I don't think you'll be disappointed.

We are overwhelmed by the responses and generous offers to assist us with FT knowledge. Thanks to all.
Miz Dani, let us know when it is convienent for you. We didn't realize there were FTs in the area or a community like MOShores.
Karl, looking forward to meeting you and learning about full timing, our dream.
Neal and Ed, really looking forward to meeting you all at the show.
Tim, would really appreciate the opportunity to connect with you while in the area and see your coach. Can you PM us with details please?

This is my first time posting so unsure of communication etiquette.
This is so exciting,
Sue

We live in Riverview and have an 03 40ft u320 double slide, don't know about the super show as there is also a large tractor show that weekend, so may be there, but otherwise the  coach is in our yard. They are a fine coach. We have been Foretravel coach owners for 12 years.

We had a fun visit with Tim Fiedler today. He  gave us a thorough tour of his beautiful coach. We can see why you all are fans of FTs.  The build quality is  impressive. He shared so much information we are taking time to process so we are ready with questions when we visit Mount Olive Shores this Saturday. Thank you Tim!

Your very welcome! Jeff and Sue are terrific people, happy to meet new friends and share some Foretravel love.

Might have a prospect for a future FT purchase for full timing. Really nice to meet them in person.

Friends don't let friends buy SOB......

Looking forward to Tampa show.  Thanks to everyone for your responses and Miz Dani's help.  We haven't fully decided what year but want a U320, we think.  Looking forward to meeting more FT owners this weekend.

Dave, we had a great visit at MOS with Gary and Sandy, Fred and Dawn, and Miz Dani.  We keep in touch with Gary O and have learned a lot. We want a U320, 99-03.  Your thoughts?

Hi MizDani,
Had a very nice time with Jim and Sue on Sat. and had the chance to answer many of their questions. They are really looking forward to going full time soon and are excited about learning as much as they can about a Foretravel. I have no doubt they soon will be proud owners of a well cared coach. Very nice couple.

Hard to beat - 2001 models are my favorite with the upgraded dash but before end cap issues.

I agree with Dave.  The 2001 U320s seem to bubble up to the top of the features and quality lists.  We focused on '01 and '02 models because those were the last years for the 36' U320s with the newer dash style, the ducted AC in the roof and electronic engine and transmission.  They went to 38' in '03.  Ours has been very reliable.  We have had a few things fail for which there has been no replacement electronic parts (air pressure gauges for example) but work arounds are pretty easy and reliable.  The factory headlights on the '02 are probably better than the '01 but you are likely to change them anyway. End cap issues with the '02s can be a problem if they weren't fixed well.

We are sticking with our 2001.

Roger

My idea of the perfect FT , 38 foot, GV, 400+ horses,( mechanical Cummins, of course ), FB paint, Aquahot, 1 LR slide, air ride seat, what else could you want ? I am assuming all the NORMAL FT features, woodwork, genny's, retarders, Disc brakes, towing capacities, safes, air ride  etc.

We really appreciate Miz Dani introducing us to Ed and Sue. Jim and I enjoyed our visit in their beautiful coach, learning about their experiences and sharing things to consider as we search for our home on wheels. They were so gracious and we really appreciated their time and hospitality.
We were unable to connect with Bruce and Linda but appreciate their offer to meet in the future.
Since we are concentrating on FT, we compared every SOB we looked at to them and it made the quality of FT shine through.  Thanks to everyone for your input.  We welcome all the knowledge and experience of the forum members as we continue to learn and search.
