The number of coaches built per calendar year can be determined if you have a bunch of coach build numbers vs date of build. I have quite a few numbers from 1997 into 2003.
From the data, calendar year 1997 started with build number about 5150 and and calendar year 2003 started with build number about 6180. This indicates they built about 1030 coaches in those 6 calendar years or about 170 coaches per calendar year.
While calendar year does not equate to model year, it is a reasonable approximation. If I remember correctly, they used to start actually building coaches 6 or more months before the model year change.
If people with coaches newer than 2003 would provide me with their build number and build date, I could extend my database. Hint, hint....

When you are looking at them, there is always the possibility of converting the head to having its own door. FT (of Tennessee), I think, is responsible for adding a door to my 2002 36' U270. They can do wonders to make a coach into your desires. My coach was owned by a person who traveled with his wife and a friend/employee, so they wanted it private. They then also eliminated the rear sliding door and turned the cabinet to the wall and added a mirror. Really makes for a large open area in the bedroom/bath.
When we took the factory tour last week, 6603 and 6604 were on the main assembly line. I think he pointed out subassemblies for 6605 and 6606, but they were in very early stages in the process.
BTW, he did mention that they were starting a new one every eight days! I'm not sure whether that was IH-45's or included FS6's and other builds. I think he mentioned it took 5 1/2 months for an IH-45. We did see an all white unit that was being built for the Brooklyn FD. The main stairs in the middle of that one were wide and extremely HEAVY duty!

I believe mine was the 1st preproduction 2003 coach built in Feb 2002.
Looking at some photos of 2003 nameplates.

6028 - 4/03
Here's mine---6181
Barry,
Some of your numbers don't look right. In particular 6095 - 2/02 and 6028 - 4/03.
Anyway, it seems reasonable that your coach number of 6024 is probably the first 2003 model.
Does anyone have a 2002 model coach with a build number greater than 6024? This would solve my mystery.
Build #4371, April 1993, still going strong here in frozen MO.

Here is an updated chart.
Still need more numbers after 2003.
It appears that production rate of 2003 coaches was higher than any previous year model.

This message is for Tom Lang and Jimmyjnr, and anyone that has posted a photo of your complete builders plate, you have given enough information to anyone that looks at this web site to print a title to your coach, you have supplied them with the vin number, that is all they need to get a title loan on your coach. This is just a heads up.
I am build 6174. Not sure of the month. David
Thanks, I took the photo down.
So, what's to keep a crook from reading the vin by looking through the windshield on any car and reading the plate on the dash?
My oldest daughter work in the tag office in Fl. it is a growing trend Nation wide, title loans are a growing problem.
Just for fun, I went to cars.com, picked just about any used car and the VIN number is in its details.
Steve just did the same thing on CarMax.com (he chose the $60K Corvette... oh, and now the $97K Porsche hmmm, midlife crisis? I was looking at towable CR-Vs ;-) )
Seems getting a VIN number is extremely easy.
I did wonder about that but thought the same as others , most vins are visable through windshield , , anyway just to be sure , how do I take it down
I deleted the photo for you...
Thanks Michele
Wow, I just came across this chart. Bascially, from 2007 to 2015 FT has made almost as many coaches as they did per year in late 90's and early 2000's. How is this a recipe for survival?
It is an issue but they use other numbers for the command coaches so we can add in 12. Who knows how many realms they will sell. I hope they sell a bunch.
Just ran across this year/build# data base. My 2002 U320 was build number 6052. Not sure how much current interest or utility these data are to others but here is one more data point.
