I'd love a new firmer pilot chair!!  Trying not to be envious of Jeffrey

11/13  New (to us) Air Ride driver's seat goes in. Jeff is a happy guy!

The new seat had Jeffy doing 400+ mile days with NO back pain.

John or Jeff,

Could you post more info about your air ride driver's chair?  Brand and maybe some pics?

Thanks

Would guess Knoedler, either the Grand Chief or Power Chief

Knoedler Manufacturers ? RV & Coach Luxury Seats (http://www.knoedler.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=category&virtuemart_category_id=9&Itemid=2)

We are very curious if anyone has one with the pneumatic swivel option, and if so, how much rotation does it have?  The video suggests just a slight turn for ease of "ingress and egress" from the seat, rather than the "becomes part of the living room" turn of the usual Villa or FlexSteel driver seats.

Also curious on what width folks are going with, 20" or 23"?

Here's a place to ballpark-price them Knoedler Manufacturers Speciality Truck Seating (http://www.seat-specialists.com/brands/Knoedler-Manufacturers.html)

Knoedler and we picked the leather and the insert as well. It can swivel but the airline is really going to be in the way so we never turn it but it has a swivel base. It is very comfortable and the only issue is when you hit a huge dip you feel you are airborne for a second. It is a great upgrade and I am glad I did that one.  I did it before my back surgery and have driven 13 hours in the seat with no issues.

John, which model was it and cannot the airline be made so you can rotate the seat, surely there must be a way to something simple.

John S where did you get your seat, and more importantly who did the install?

Maybe a couple of swivel fittings in the right places?

The seat was one that a guy had pulled out of his coach (Phenix or IH) because he didn't like it.  I was talking to David Flanagan about our refrigerator install back in Sept or Oct when I set up the appointments, and he said,"Hey! I've got one of those fancy air ride chairs that will match your interior!  If you want it I can hold it for ya!"  David told me that the guy was "a little , skinny fellow who hardly weighed 100 pounds, and the the seat just didn't do anything for him.  I think you appreciate it more when you have some extra "gravitational pull".  I jumped all over it, because we got it for $2500.  Of course ... that figure is now out the window because it became necessary to reupholster the co-pilot chair to match the pilot chair ... and the sofa to match the other seating ... and now the dash is looking shabby ... and the head bone is connected to the neck bone and the neck bone is connected to the shoulder bone and on and on and on ....  but when they pulled Jeff's seat out of the coach and we saw it sitting on the floor, it was actually cock-eyed!  My re-foamed and recovered seat is now VERY comfy, as well.

I am fairly certain that it is a Power Chief ... very schmancy ... there is a heat button that does work (we have not tried the cool option) and a multitude of lumbar adjustments and arm adjustments and so forth.

I got it from Villa and FT and David did the installation. It will turn but to keep the air line stable I zip tied it and that means undoing it each time. I rather just not turn the seat.  Carol, you got a great deal as that is half price.  I put in a new co pilots seat too. The recliner type with the arms that they put in the new coaches.  It is very nice too.
