Title: Another Tile Job
Post by: jor on December 27, 2014, 12:38:36 pm
I was thinking about dumping our present coach and getting another bus. Decided to freshen up the GV instead. Couldn't travel for a few months so I dreamed up a few projects one of which was to replace the factory carpet with tile. We like the hardwood floors in the galley area so we raised the original floor 3/16" and then laid tile over the new wood. This rendered a nice flush joining of tile and hardwood. I hated to cover that nice new tile with the two couches and even considered putting in a chair or two instead, however, we really like the two couch configuration so reinstalled both couches.

Also recarpeted the driving area.

John O R' , are they what they look like Vinyl sq interlocking tiles. We cannot make our mind up what to do after taking carpet up in Lvg room.

They're Karndean pressure tiles. They are thicker than what you usually see in a vinyl tile. They have a rubber backing and are good for sound deadening. Used a lot in commercial applications with lots of traffic. They are called pressure tiles because they are not glued to the plywood; they do not interlock; rather, they are held in place by a tight fit on the edges. I think they call it LooseLay. I'll post on our experience with them once we get some traveling in. Quality Luxury Vinyl Flooring Tiles & Planks - Karndean Designflooring (http://www.karndean.com)
