Trying to catch up on all the jobs I have been ignoring and now looking at battery disconnect switches .
Start battery's have one main neg cable from rear of bank , so that's where I plan to install switch .
House bank has two large and one small neg cables. ( yellow tag , thermal fuse ??)
House bank also has two large pos cables from rear of bank .
Unsure if I should put switch in pos or neg line considering the " thermal link "
Always disconnect batteries from the negative post.
Some pictures
Here are a couple of pictures of the battery disconnect panel and metering (old school) on my 1990 U280 36' Unihome. In this case the batteries are switched on the positive side since the battery negatives are all tied to a common point. This arrangement has been working for about 24 years. Coach also has an automatic battery combiner for charging all banks when running. There is one start battery and two house banks. The panel was added in the top of the wet bay area just above the batteries.
Love that panel , my problem on the house bank is that the neg has some sort of temp sensor / fuse , so I want to leave that connected to the battery .
The live post has two large gauge cables connected
My batteries have a single large gauge wire on the positive and an added power terminal stud for each battery where the multiple leads take off.
The yellow gizmo should be a temperature sensor for the charger, and stays where it is place the disconnect switch between that and all the wires on the post.
So leave the yellow temp sensor connected to neg post and move the two heavy gauge neg cables to the disconnect switch ?
