I apparently have a problem with the switch for the Makeup light in the bathroom. The button itself is slanted and loose. I have tried to remove the panel surrounding it and the other three switches, but have had no luck. I can raise the panel slightly, but cannot see any lever or release I could push to remove the panel and access the switches. Has anyone been able to do this without cracking the panel?
Thanks for any pointers.
Don
Don, are there pressure clips on the back side? The kind that expand behind the wall.. Just a thought.
John, good thought, but I can't see any. Am afraid to pry to cover away any further. Expect that would crack it. Should be able to release it without this much pressure, just can't find the right place to press or pry.
Don
Can you post a picture of the panel you are trying to remove ?
Sorry about the picture. Should have thought of that. See below.
Thanks,
Don
Don,
I can not tell you how to take it off without the risk of breaking it but I bet if you call either MOT or FT, wherever you bought it, they will tell you. The service department or parts can probably tell you by looking at a new one.
If I recall, those have plastic latches on the sides that hold them in place. You have to slide something (like a plastic scraper) in from the L/R sides and depress the latch while pulling forward on it. May have to do one side and then the other but sometimes you can just release one side and get it out.
Steve, I'll do some more poking around and see if I find anything on the sides. That's kind of what I thought might work, too, but didn't see anything right away.
If that doesn't work, I'll follow John's suggestion on Monday and give Mike Rodgers a call at MOT.
Thanks guys,
Don
Nice thin tool to get behind the cover plate would be a spatula. Plastic so no chance of sparking.
