Title: Fanastic Fan Motor Lubrication
Post by: Bill & Deanne Brown on January 31, 2015, 02:31:22 pm
Our Fantastic Fan appears to struggling a little.  On the lowest speed setting the fan will fail to start rotating and we need to temporarily bump up the speed setting to allow the rotor to "break free".  We can then lower the speed back down to the low setting and it runs fine.  We also notice recently that the fan stops rotating quickly when the power is turned off.  My feeling is the fan motor bearings need some lubrication.  I have confirmed there is no mechanical rubbing.  Has anyone ever added some light oil the the motor bearings?  If so, how did you do it?

Sewing machine oil is a good, light-viscosity non-detergent oil.  Have used it on furnace fan bushings.

I have not worked on the fantastic fan motor, so no first hand experience with them-- just never had one fail.

it is more than ten years old.  The newer Fantastic fans are more efficient.  So, replace the motor.  They used to have a lifetime warranty.  Since ownership changed, the warranty is not as liberal.  But give them a try.  For my Class B Pleasure-Way, the company sold me a new frame and lift mechanism very reasonable.  I have heard of many people who got replacement parts free of charge.
