Hey folks, Art here from Silverleaf
Many good points here from the previous threads; Open Source, Unfinished Feel, Tips and Tricks....too many for one post.
However; we are working on a new program (for the Open Source purveyors out there, its being written in some flavor of 'C.')
Its a total re-write as there's so many Cummins band-aids and Alison-work arounds, it really needed it. Being ~15 years old it was time to modernize it as well. Some of you callers on the help line have already heard about the "Dear Santa, Please Bring Me A..." List.
Its quite long...and gets longer everytime you call with an idea, hope, dream or nonsense (til you explain it, then it seems like it should be a done-deal!)
Open source: No happening. We support our users with face time, phone time, email time, forum time.... you know where that goes. Its expensive. Even if it were open sourced, we'd still be expected to support the whole shebang. Even if the resulting 'open' programming effort hoses the hardware its trying to interface with.
Best I can offer is an open forum on our website (http://silverleafelectronics.com/node/5648?q=forum/23) for your input. There all can see and leverage the ideas and continue to add their own thoughts--as y'all do here.
As for the unfinished parts...regarding the tank minder; I haven't noticed it--but then, my wheels are a motorbike. :-) As mentioned, the program has been added to and fixed dozens of times. The v3.1 build-2 is likely the last of what I call a 'pc-99' original skin. Drop a few lines on the forum over there--start a new thread. Call it...The Wish List or something. That should be a wild ride. So many of you have good ideas. Many great ones and a few brilliant ones:
--An all-in-one installer (program and driver)
--A program group with some links and real help, _REAL HELP_ dialog.
--A simulator to show each (selected) gauge actually going through the motions of a coach at 65MPH
--Manually selectable CAN bus (J1584/1708 and/or J1939) with a mouse click
--Always On Top (built in)
--Full Screen (F11)
--Histogram scaling
--(copy) and (paste)
--Font(s) & Size(s),
--Numerical list of gauges (by PID/fmi) and/or some other sorting in Param Editor
--(double-tap) gauge properties
--(Tires) Add a moveable Spare...actually shown where its stored--drag and drop. (I really like that one!)
--Improved datalogging (many things here.)
--Sounds! Hey, I got Richard Nixon on the phone--he wants his .WAV file and tapes back!
..(MP3...others... plus linkage to sound recorder viz recording a checklist (read at startup)..
--Improved SAVE feature; screens, alarms, log...whatever... push-button backup. You preselect what those things are.
[The caller put it this way: "I knew it was dying, if I did much of anything it was gonna go. If I just had a push-button to Back it up, I'd still have my sweet setup. It was pretty neat." ]
--two-finger sizing for gauges (zoom in/out)
--Gauge-Lock (to keep tired fingers from moving the gauges...)
These are the big hitters so far. Will they get incorporated? Maybe.
The squeaky wheel gets the grease.
So speak up. Head over to the VMSpc forum and have your say.
I'll keep an eye out here when I can...

Nice to see positive feedback from the makers of a VERY important system we (some) have on coach's. I would not change mine for anything and I am not a geek like some on forum.
Keep it coming
