Title: Removal of Brake Pedal For Tiling
Post by: rsihnhold on February 06, 2015, 12:58:46 pm
I've reached the last area of tiling the floor in my FT, the pedals, and am trying to figure out how others have accomplished tiling this area.

Removing the brake pedal screws only allows the pedal to be pulled up a 1/2" or so and will not allow the thickness of the tile to fit underneath.  I'm concerned that even if I remove all the air lines for the installation, I still won't be able to get the allowable depth to allow for the tile.  Did other folks have to switch to 90 degree air hose connections underneath the floor to allow for this?

We had tile installed in our coach when we bought it.  It looks like the installers cut the tile to fit around the metal base of the pedal.
Unless you really get up close and personal to the pedals, you never notice it.

That was 7 years ago and have never had a problem- so maybe it is a simple solution.

You will love your tile like we do- full timing with it for 7 years so far.

My suggestion is do not touch it and tile around or tile within 6" of the pedals and then carpet the last bit. If your brake assembly is anything like ours you do not want to play with it. It is a bear to get to and work on even with my pit.

Howdy rsihnhold,
I removed the carpet and installed Cork Flooring several years ago.  On the advice from Mike Rogers at MOT, left brake pedal in place and installed the flooring around the pedal.  It came out great.
Good Luck with your tile, Dave A

All the coaches I put flooring in, if the pedals are on the floor, I go around them.  Too much going on with the brake lines, etc. to mess with that.

The PO had tile installed, and here's what it looks like now.  Not sure if the flooring under the pedals was original or if that was added at the time of the flooring upgrade.
