Title: Dash volt meter and VMSpc Total Fuel, 2001 U320
Post by: Roger & Susan in Home2 on February 12, 2015, 09:27:24 pm
Two odd issues, likely not related.

My dash volt meter reads nothing.  VMSpc reads voltage over the data bus correctly.  Volt meter confirms.
I have the gray box not the blue box.  Electronic gauge.  Gauge moves on start up then nothing.

My VMSpc total fuel PID read bazillions on gallons used.  Not long ago (before Xtreme) it read correctly.  Worst thing is that is make miles to empty not work, I can't set tank levels.

I spent an hour with Art from VMSpc trying to diagnose, no luck.

Any ideas will be helpful.

Thanks friends,

Roger

Not sure what you had done at extreme but I would have to look and see if anything that was installed recently if a screw could have gone in a wire loom or cable maybe even a crushed wire. Chasing wires on a bus is very tough. I bet there is over 2 miles of wire on mine.  Good luck.

Good morning Roger,
If you worked with Art you may have already tried this but......my VMSpc Boost guage was not reading so I manualy configured the Boost PID and set up a new simple boost guage on my screen and it worked.
My dash voltmeter is way off so I don't rely on it.
Maybe see you in AZ.

Hi Roger....same fail by my dash gauge;  tried to get a replacement from FT yet told no longer produced by stewart warner so went to Harbor Freight,  found a generic lighted one for less than $10, fits the hole, wired it up and it works fine.....color blends in close enough to the original as well.
