Turned on the monitor to check tank levels and had no response. The dreaded black tube. I am searching on another tab but thought I would ask you fine knowledgeable folks where to begin to trouble shoot.
Thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Had that happen once or twice last summer. First, try powering off then powering back on (while I cross my fingers, since that worked for us).
Thanks Michell-
I tried that. But I didn't cross my fingers.....wait.....Crossing my fingers did the trick. You know I flipped that switch about 4 or 5 times but then I crossed my fingers. Michelle you are truly a knowledgeable and helpful person. ;D
Should I delete this post?
Will check the connections on the rocker switch if I can get to them and maybe clean the contacts and spray some Corrosion X on them.
Nope - don't delete it. If flipping the switch a couple of times solved the problem for both of us, chances are it will help someone else in the future :)
I think the Javalina CPU gets confused sometimes. Guess we need to let it fully shutdown and then power back on.
I am so glad a flipping a switch with fingers crossed did the trick. I do not feel like doing anything tomorrow. ;D
Hi Scott,
What exact symptoms are you observing in which components?
Do you think the problem is in the Javelina computer (on the floor under the center cubby) or in the Necvox fold out dash display? I have had both fail. Computer failure usually looks black or some other color. The fold out display easily can have the flexible circuit board (a plastic flat cable to connect the fold out panel) can make the picture shaky or worse.
Two years ago Javelina will sold (at scalper prices) a repaired computer for about $460. The fold out display unit I found on eBay for about $80. I can look for the exact purchase paperwork if you want me to.
You can substitute a TV monitor via an RCA video cable to isolate the failure further.

Hi Jim -
Thanks for the reply. The only symptom I saw was a black screen when I flipped the switch to turn it on. We do not have a flip up display, it is mounted in the dash.
I realize that I will probably have to replace the built in screen, camera and Javelina system at some point - probably sooner than later. I am not looking forward to it though. I have been watching the threads here re: replacement and still do not know what way to go. Will probably go with the Sea Level system when I must but don't know about the other monitor and camera.
In the mean time I will cross my fingers when I turn it on. ;D
Something we are also contemplating and Steve is actively investigating as an "engineering project" :-X
Michelle - We would appreciate updates as they become available. ;D
Scott and Carol,
This might not be the issue at all, but check the toggle ON/OFF switch. I noticed my 24 year old "selector" switch wont work sometimes and some "exercise" makes it come to life again. Usually happens after not using it for a long time. I still have all the original equipment and will change it out someday but it still keeps ticking.
