We had a new Kitchen back-splash installed at FOT. Very pleased with Ricky's quality installation.
Very nice. Hope to do that to ours someday.

Hello Bill,
Tile looks great. We are planning to do a similar upgrade.
Can you tell me if the Corian backsplash was easy to remove ?
I would like to do the job myself but I don't know how difficult removing the corian will be .
Thanks--Jim
Jim I removed our corian a few years ago to tile back and it comes off fairly easy. It is just siliconed on wall. Use a long thin saw blade to shove behind and move around. Once you start to "peel" it off the corian piece will come away.

Looks great, I'd like to do mine one of these days, it's one the round to it list.
That looks really nice. Definitely on my list.
That info is very helpful. I will add the tile upgrade to my ever expanding list. Thank You, John.

The Corian on the back wall comes off very easily since on ours its on top of the wallpaper. So you simply score the wallpaper with a sharp knife along the Corian edge and it will come off with a little prying.
The Corian on the side wall (on ours it is the side of the refrigerator cabinet) is a bit more of a challenge. That is adhered directly to the luan and you run a good chance of tearing that up during the removal but it can be easily patched.
To remove that I (Steve) started at the front with a couple of wood / plastic wedges and just worked my way back. It came off in two or three sections and it only splintered the luan in a few areas. I (Steve) repaired those areas with filler and then covered the entire area with super thin hobby plywood that got a fiberglass resin coating. Not sure all that was needed but the side was was a bit to flexible to tile for my taste so wanted to beef it up, 6 years latter, no cracking anywhere.
Jim,
The Corian sheets were very difficult to remove from the fridge side. Mine was excessively glued and it took 2 guys with long blades to pry off. The paneling near the plug delaminated and a 0.25" plywood backing board installed. The sheet directly behind the stove was also difficult. It broke into pieces while being pryed off again involving 2 guys. I sure it depends on how much silicon they used during build..... Bill
I agree that it would depend on amount of silicone but in the 4 coach's that I have done this job I have not broken Corian or mirrors. I use a 24: crosscut saw blade and run that behind panel to cut thru' glue. yes the side one by fridge is a bit more dicey but still very doable. Just take your time. I have removed mirrors in bathrooms too with this method and not broken one.

We also recently did a backsplash. The colorful Mexican tile is our style. I think we'll do the other side of the sink when we get back from our current trip.

Ours was done by previous owners, two back.
