Our 1989 GV has a 100 gallon plastic fuel tank. I postulate that the coach has set many times with the tank less than full, thus allowing an algae buildup on the float mechanism (it IS an OLD coach) so I get erroneous readings.
Major job to remove tank & fuel so I was wondering why not the external sensor strip like on the black/grey/fresh water tanks?
Probably wouldn't work on metal tanks but ours is fiberglass or equiv.
Obviously a complete monitoring system for the tank would be required as the current dash gage wouldn't work with a strip? Or am I wrong?
I have been feeding the tank a steady diet of algae buster and the gage has slowly been correcting the readings so The algae buster must be freeing up the float mechanism.
Nighthawk, our 88 was a steel tank worked good till 1/2full.. then not so good. The issue I see is the graduated strip.. E, 1/4.. to full. Maybe the sea guage would work.. since yours is fiberglass. ? I would think on the end not the side..
The 88 was simple.. fill it=Full 9 miles per gal=900mi
450 miles 1/2 Full
675 miles 1/4 Full
800 miles EMPTY, Find a fuel stop.. it gave is 30+ gal (270 mi) on a 135 gal tank ^.^d
Mileage varied 8.5-10

If you went with a SeeLevel system it's sensor should work just fine. Several have converted there water/sewer/grey tanks to one of these systems. We talked with the people down in Granbury and there system don't care what the fluid is. You may even be able to use the same wire as you have now. Give them a call they are very EZ to talk to.
