Title: rear furnace heating front furnace nothing
Post by: mr bill on March 13, 2015, 09:12:32 am
My front furnace will not come on nor will the front heat pump. Everything works in the rear.  When we started our trip last week both areas were working.  The not allow me to do anything.  When I try to set zone 1 the screen goes blank and does nothing but I can set everything in zone 2.

Any help would be appreciated as we are in northern Alabama on our way to Raleigh NC.

Bill

Bill, Do a search for the type of thermostat that you have, somewhere here is the instruction on doing a reset .
Hopefully Jim F will chime in on this, I would GUESS a thermostat as rear works.

Gary
Thanks for the reply.

On my coach there is only one thermostat and it is in the front. There is one in the vanity area but it only works for the shower area.  I will check for reset as soon as we get stopped for tonight.

Thanks for helping a newbie to a Foretravel coach.

Bill, That one thermostat controls both front and rear, see if you have it set to ZONE 1 or ZONE 2, I can't recall exactly how the buttons work but it will probably indicate, Heat-Cool, Zone Etc. Also controls aqua hot, but the guys with AH will have to help you there.
Do you have the documentation on the thermostat ?

Given it's a 2003, this is a 5 button Dometic thermostat, correct?  Is it displaying any errors when you turn the thermostat on?

ETA a quick Google search turned up this troubleshooting guide http://bryantrv.com/docs2/docs/ccc5.pdf

Reset procedure appears to be:

16. SYSTEM RESET
a.  Turn the ON/OFF switch to ìOFFî position.

b.  Simultaneously depress and hold the MODE and ZONE
push-buttons while turning the ON/OFF switch to ìONî.
FF should appear in the LCD display until the MODE
and ZONE push-buttons are released.

c.  When a dip switch is turned on or off after initial configu
ration, a system reset will need to be done before the
Comfort Control Center TM will recognize the updated se-
lection. See figure 11
.

This coach should have Aqua Hot not a furnace.

I spoke with David at MOT and we checked everything and he has determined that the thermostat is not communicating with the front a/c and that we need to have the motherboard checked. David gave us a contact here in Asheville, NC but the number had been disconnected.  Spoke with Keith late this pm and he gave us the number to Camping World.

If anyone knows of a repair facility in Asheville that does Dometic a/c work, please let me know.

We do have an aqua hot but still cannot get the front to come on.

As always, thanks for everyone's help.

Try Tom Johnson Camping Center over in Marion. Large facility and they have a nice campground on site.

Mr Bill, if one of your outside bay doors opens over where the front furnace is there is a limit switch on the door frame that keep the furnace from coming on if the door is open to keep it from melting. I hit mine one time and bent it, it would not allow the front furnace to operate.

This coach should have Aqua Hot not a furnace.

Bruce, as Bill W. says, since this is a 2003 U320 thermostat, a 5-button Dometic CCC will say "Furnace" but it's actually controlling a zone of the Aquahot.

With an aqua hot, there is no limit switch for the bay doors

Thanks everyone.  Since the back furnace is working, we decided to wait until we get home to have it repaired.
