Title: Engine Door Lock Replaced 1996 U270
Post by: Jerry Whiteaker on March 14, 2015, 10:39:45 pm
A few days ago when I closed the engine door the handle would not stay in.  Pushed on it a few times and it popped out and pieces went flying.  Ordered a new one from Foretravel.  Now how to get the door open so I can replace the handle?  Well I got it open by banging on the mechanism with a garden rake from under the bed.  The simple thing to do, which I had to do later to replace the handle was remove the grill, only six screws.  Then you can just reach inside and turn the mechanism, remove the bolts and nuts, etc.

When I ordered the part, I asked if they had one with a 211 key same as my lower compartments.  No they just had 911 same as the old one.  My old key fits the new lock although the new key has a different style or shape.  This has me wondering if all the coaches in my series that use a key are the same?

Edit: I should have asked; do your keys have the same numbers?

TM211 (TriMark) is an extremely common key number for RVs, unfortunately.  I Googled TM911 and found it's also a pretty common number.
